Welcome to ART CLASS!!
The 4th quarter...already!
It seems like this year has flown by! We have been studying art theory, looking at various artists and styles, and applying what we have learned in our drawing and painting. The 4th quarter, we will focus on 3-D art.
The primary grades will be doing various craft projects, while grades 5-8 will be creating masks out of papier-mache. We have made our casts, and I can't wait to see the masks in their final form. This process will take several weeks to complete, but I think the students will really enjoy the experience!
I have been saving artwork throughout the year to be placed in the Charles County Fair. I think our budding artists will represent St. Mary's very well!
Lately, I have been thrilled to hear some of my students tell me that they are becoming very interested in art, and are identifying some of the art we have learned about when they are out in the world. I am so proud of my art students! They are so creative in many ways!
One of my favorite upcoming art projects we will be doing is making a large American flag from the students' handprints. It will serve as a beautiful backdrop for our upcoming Field Of Honor. This year, our theme is "Proud to be an American". The flag we are making will show the community that we are indeed proud to be Americans and we honor all of those who serve our country.
Art is everywhere...it's just a matter of seeing it.
Ms. Morrison
